Jamie is the event coordinator for Faith, Hope & Love, a New Jersey Synod (ELCA) inter-generational event aimed at sharing stories, building community, and equipping congregations to better meet the needs of and truly celebrate LGBTQ+ youth. She also leads workshops annually on Advocacy, Transgender 101, and Raising Trans Youth. This is the fourth annual event. All are welcome regardless of your denomination or Synod.

HRC Foundation's Time To Thrive
I’m excited to be at HRC Foundation’s Time To Thrive Conference in Washington, D.C., the annual national conference to promote safety, inclusion and well-being for LGBTQ youth...everywhere! Time to Thrive is presented by The Human Rights Campaign Foundation in partnership with the National Education Association and the American Counseling Association.
I will be presenting a workshop titled “Faith, Hope & Love: Building Safer & More Welcoming Faith Communities for LGBTQ+ Youth” with Rev. Lee Zandstra and Rebekah Bruesehoff about the transformational work we’re been doing in the New Jersey Synod of the ELCA with our annual event Faith, Hope & Love, and then equipping participants to take this model and use it in their settings.

ELCA Youth Ministry Network Extravaganza
The Extravaganza is the annual gathering of children, youth and family ministry leaders from across the ELCA. Jamie will be leading a workshop on LGBTQ+ youth and connecting/resourcing with folks throughout the weekend.

Transgender and Non-Binary Students: A Framework for Creating Safe and Supportive Schools
Jamie and Rebekah will be speaking at this Transgender Student Summit produced by New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA) ‘s Foundation for Educational Administration (FEA).

What is the science behind the fundamental concept of "gender"? In what ways do our social constructs, upbringing and personal experiences influence the way we understand this concept? What are the underlying social and emotional issues that transgender students confront and how do we create safe and supportive schools for these students who are at extreme risk of bullying, mental health issues, addiction and/or suicidal ideation? How can school staff address their own deeply held views and need for information in order to better support students and their families that are coming from varying positions of understanding, acceptance and support of their child?

A Conversation About Welcome: LGBTQ People & the Church
Jamie Bruesehoff and Rev. Christopher Bruesehoff will be hosting this workshop.
Last winter, Holy Counselor Lutheran Church gathered to talk about transgender children and the church. The folks gathered asked for this as a follow up to that conversation.
This is an opportunity for the HCLC community and their neighbors to learn about what it means to be welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community.

Psychiatric Technician Conference
Jamie & Rebekah will be presenting on working with transgender youth at the professional development conference for CHOP’s Psychiatric Technicians. This event is not open to the public.
NJ Division of Child Protection & Permanency Staff Training
Jamie will be joining the NJ DCPP for a staff meeting to share her family’s personal experience raising a transgender child and to discuss how to best support transgender young people and their families. This event is not open to the public.

Sponsored by Family Central, this presentation will involve videos that highlight the real stories behind young transgender children, dispelling myths and showing the very real challenges and hope that exists for these families.
